Windmill weight maybe

Have a part you can't identify? Did your parts get mixed up in the shop? Curious if that chunk of metal is a part you should keep? Not sure what kind of windmill or tower you have? Post photos of the mystery object here for the community to help identify.

Windmill weight maybe

Post by Windcatcher530 Dan »

When searching for remains of an old wooden windmill i was told about by the town historian the mansion had burned and no sign of any remains of the mill but I found this piece of square marble finished on all sides weighing about 80-100lbs with two holes for something round to go in near where the mill was. Has anyone ever seen a weight like this. If not any suggestions.

Maybe a counter weight for a gate? Sometimes a counter weight was mounted on a fulcrum to make opening gates easier. Just my guess.
