What is it?

Have a part you can't identify? Did your parts get mixed up in the shop? Curious if that chunk of metal is a part you should keep? Not sure what kind of windmill or tower you have? Post photos of the mystery object here for the community to help identify.

What is it?

Post by Jim Corcoran »

Anyone have a guess what the purpose of this piece might be, and where it might be used? It came with a Flint and Walling No. 5 tower. It is 42.5” overall length. The angle is 2.5” X 2.0” by 1/4“thick. The outer mounting holes are on 42” centers. Given the 42” inch mounting holes it may have been mounted toward the upper portion of the tower as the legs at the base would have been 9’ 11” apart. The stenciled number is FA3730. There were a couple of short 1” x 2” pieces of lumber attached that I assume would have been part of the packing.

Thanks in advance.

Might be a guide for the pumping rod from the head down to the well.
