Hey, I'm going to be building a 33' tower from scratch eventually, still gathering all the info I can until then. Any chance you could measure the base footprint for me? I found on another site it was around 8' leg to leg. And are the legs 33' or is that the total height of the tower when its standing? Appreciate the help.

The footprint is 104.75”, square. The legs are 13’5” long. There’s two sets of legs and the top section is around 7’. There’s an awful lot to build if you’re going to replicate an Aermotor tower.

Looking good.

I hauled a widespread 33’ Aermotor “D” tower from Steve A’s place to my place and it was 11.5’ tall at the base while sitting flat on my trailer. The stub wasn’t on that tower, so it was really 27’ or so at that time. Knocked a few branches down hauling it home.

Kevin - I have a 33’ Aermotor “B” tower if you’d like the spread measurements. Replicating an Aermotor tower could be a challenge.

Ya any measurements you could provide would be really helpful. I know very little about windmills but am learning more every day. I like the look of the 33ft tower. Not looking to build an exact aermotor tower but something similar. Just want to make sure I build it right so it doesnt collapse and also i dont over build it wasting material. I'm not an engineer haha. Anyways, I dont want to hijack 63markbs thread. Lets talk about this on my thread. I'll delete this tomorrow if I can.

Kevin, no need to delete. We’re all here to help each other. I would recommend this, if you’re going to build a tower, it would be advantageous to at least get a stub tower for whatever mill you plan to put on it. Then build from there down.

Mark is right on . angles are set , just keep adding more leggs , Paul V did a neat thing by adding hinges on 2 feet to make setting up easier .

I built a tower from scratch. As they said you work from your stub tower down. I wouldn't do it again. Lots and lots of measuring to get all the holes drilled. Lots and lots of holes to drill or punch. I'd druther search for tower pieces I could put together. My two since worth.

Got the arms poured. Not the best job but you won’t be able to see it with the bonnet on. Lol
