Peter
I looked in the Spring 1994 Windmillers Gazette there is a illustration of a #14 that looks like yours.
In the Winter 2010 Gazette there is a parts list that shows the cross bar like yours.
In the list is part # 1430 Guide rod spacer Obsolete sub 01430 and cut-off screw.
the next line down it has the 01430 guide rod spacer.
Your guide rod spacer is the first one and mine the later one.
So it looks as though there were 2 diffident hoods.
I learned something new.

Re: Dempster/Duplex/Massey Harris
Thanks for the info Terry. So does yours have the notches on the side of the case or are the cases a little different also?
If you have your mill handy, could you please measure the length of the weight bar? I have 3/4 of it but someone cut the end off when they stole the horse when it was laying on the ground in Saskatchewan.
Thanks for your help.

No notches on my case.
When I first saw your pictures of the hood I thought it looked like a Dempster # 11 hood latch.
I will get some measurements on the tail bone tomorrow.

The tail bone is 1/4 X 1 1/2 X 60" with a cross brace at 38" from the horse end. The brace is 3/16 X 1" flat iron.
Looking from the horse to the wheel the straight sides of the hood are to the wheel and Left side.

Thank you Terry
Re: Dempster/Duplex/Massey Harris
Peter, this might be a longshot, but I have an original Dempster #12 from 1922 and the helmet has the 2 tiedown straps. The ridge on the head measure 8 5/8 X 13 1/4 X 16 inches high. If you think that would by somechance work let me know, we can go from there.
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.
