First time I've seen a wooden pitman, had only read about them. Neat-o!

They were used everywhere back in the day. Paul Cowley used to make a wide collection for about every mill.

Most of the wood pitman arms were made out of hard Maple.
These are new ones that I made for a 8 1/2 foot Eclipse. The holes are not drilled for the wrist pins. A lot of the older windmills had the wood pitman arms

And then there's the Elgin TipTop. More parts than a Dempster. LOL But, wood pitman arms.

Now that you mentioned it, I guess I don't know the original color of Elgin. If I put enough different colors on it, may I hit one right. LOL

Thanks. Maybe this summer I can get them all fixed up back in shape. These are older pictures. They are like me now, showing their age.

Here’s a couple pics & video link of the 6’ Currie “rustoration.” I mounted to my trailer so I can take it outside for pics. Btw the bearings are wood too. I did nothing to them other than squirt some oil on them. Haven’t decided what to do with it yet…back in the barn for now.
