I couldn't resist some auction "bargains", so here I go again! One of the things I bought is a 3HP Whitney hydraulic punch that is set up to do angle iron. It's in great shape and came with a bucket of dies that can make round, square, oblong, and rectangular holes. I have plenty of 220V single phase power but this requires 3 phase. As soon as I got home, I went to YouTube to find out about phase converters. I don't want to spend the amount of money a rotary would cost and about the best I can figure out is matching the data plate HP and Amperage to the stuff available on Ebay. My use of the pump will be intermittent at best but once it's up and running, I'd like to avoid any problems. Is there a brand or price range, etc. you might suggest? Speed control won't be needed (I think). I'm including a photo of the pump and data plate.

Re: I don't know a thing about Phase Converters...
I have a rotary I use with my milling machine. With a rotary, it has an electric motor that makes the 3rd phase. The electronic Phase Converter uses magic is the way I understand it. You do need to match amps and the Hp of the motor you are wanting to drive with the Phase converter. Thats where the sizing of one to do your job comes in.

also they make a simple one in a small box, just uses a resistor inside, runs 3 of my machines at the same time
