Cool Mill in CT

Post by tst »

Heard about this some time ago , figured out where it was in CT, as I live in NY not close by but found myself in the area today and hunted it down
On a old farm , last used by the State of CT , must have been a hell of demand for water looking at the size of the monster
Guess the Tower, is about 40 ft to the bottom of the water tank, the tank is 12 ft high by the marks on it, fan is 12 ft or bigger, do not know the brand, was furled, looks like it wanted to go in the storm while I was there today, could only peak in the window as it was locked up, had a huge center beam I could see in the middle standing up to support thank Tank, has the be a couple thou it can hold, to look at it more like a lighthouse
This thing is awesome, wish it was at my place

Very cool Tim thanks for the pics. Looks to be a U.S.W.E. on what might be a Corcoran tower. I hope that is going to be kept up and taken care of !!

It is on land owned by the State of CT but now abandoned, I will be looking into it more, found out the land was donated to the state and it was restored at one time along with house and barns but they are all falling apart now

Wow! Didn't realize there was one still standing anywhere, except for the one wrote about in Windmiller's Gazette. It's a shame that it doesn't have friends that want to make sure it keeps standing.
