This tower cap os for a 10ft Dempster .
it has 20 bearings around the groove , can anyone explain why to extract 1 bearing ball , and not fill the circle ???

That sort of looks like a F&W.

My logic is on Dempster races, fill it up and remove one. That allows for more grease, in a race that is hard to grease, and really makes little difference. On others like a Baker W series race, I’ll fill it up with ball bearings. Lot of times on races that you can partially see the balls, I can get a grease needle in there and grease up the race.

The northern front range of Colorado had a Wyoming type day today ... stress test for the old fairbury.

Freewheeling to the max ... everything looks good from the ground .. will have a look see tomorrow

gusts to 30 mph

Interesting . . . especially about the turntables.

I have often wondered how many owners greased the turntable, even if they changed the oil every year or two. I would not be surprised if somebody replied to the effect that many might have been greased once, when they were put up, but never again. Would not be surprised if the storm stay got even less attention.

As for the Fairbury, methinks that enough dust and grit would get blown into it that the resulting mix of dust and grease might be worse than no grease at all.

But what do others say?
