ID tower

Have a part you can't identify? Did your parts get mixed up in the shop? Curious if that chunk of metal is a part you should keep? Not sure what kind of windmill or tower you have? Post photos of the mystery object here for the community to help identify.

Ok. If you blow up this picture, and follow the twisted wire splice, you can see a definite likeness to Dempster. However...IF this is an early Dempster tower, I would not know how early it really is. I am not that familiar with towers in general.

Since Butler was mentioned as a possibility early on, I took a few additional photos of the double gear Bulter this afternoon. It had the L shaped tensioners/rods. These photos may or may not answer some questions.

Yep that's Butler alright. 100%. Angle braces to tower leg are cast.

I'm a little late with a reply. I have taken down many Eli towers and never had one with twisted wires for cross braces.

JLM,

Follow this link to the Dempster Mill Factory archives. Might be some information in there that might help you.

I've added the link to the Dempster section of the "Windmill Manufacturer Literature and Documentation" library.

Thanks for sharing Jerry :)
