Well, this happened before I was born but, the story I was told, was that my dad went up to the city to get the bearing/parts. When he got home, his brothers had taken the wheel/fan down. I’m not sure if they took a lot of care when they took it down but, it never got repaired. They did that while it was in the air. It has been as pictured my whole life. As a kid I remember the wheel/fan sitting in the barn. The arms were still there but, I don’t remember the hub and shaft.

Well, not yet it hasn't. ;)
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.

I’m wondering what type of tower I have, is this a Dempster tower?

Wow they took the fan down while your dad went to town? Town must be far away. I think it’s cool that it has some meaning to you and your family.Hope the white stuff disappears soon so you can get it down to see what you need to get it going! Good luck
