No oil, greases has improved 100 fold in 100 years.
All new oilite bearings.
I will be using automatic grease lubricators from Lube Site on bearings with high usage.
The anchor bolts allowed me to set the mill, climb it, and plumb it on the same day.
No need for rope tethering as the concrete set. That would be a pain, and a lot of $$ rope.
Yes the pad is not necessary, but will be a great place for the pump and tank.

No kidding. Or keep it off until special occasions come up, and you want it run for the company you have over.

Re: 1903 RA Aermoter Project
WINDYBOB, your concern concerns me.
Just reflect on how much equipment around the world runs on grease and oilite bearings.
And I'm going to add automatic greasers.
All windmills have a wheel that hangs on a shaft which is supported by bearings and grease.
Can you or others tell me what wears out first?
When I purchased this mill, true, I had no idea what I was buying.
Everything was wore out, Hey it's 115 years old!
All I knew was it's a windmill ,and I had been looking for 40 years.
Don't get me wrong I love all the observations and help, please keep them coming.

Nice setup. Glad to see you got it up and running.

"All windmills have a wheel that hangs on a shaft which is supported by bearings and grease.

Replace grease with oil and you will be more accurate. The first thing to wear out are the bearings due to lack of oil. The second is the frame from the shaft rubbing on it. The third is the blades from hitting the tower after the shaft wears through the housing. I hope your grease solution works. All the current improvements I have ever seen to a windmill were never improvements. I hope it works for you. Only time will tell.

windy is right again !
Re: 1903 RA Aermoter Project
The mill has been up about 6 weeks and all is going well!
Added 2 automatic Lubricators from Lube site.
Keep the mill 60% furled because it spins way faster than necessary to keep me happy.
OK, I'm a little chicken, one picture shows my safety attachment and my house way down there.
