Generally speaking, this area is for general discussion about windmills, in most cases.

This one has small gears only about 1 1/4 wide with no rim and the brake is a full 360 not just at the top and bottom. I was thinking the larger gears with rims and the brake with only contact at the top and bottom where after 1895.

According to the parts litterateur and diagrams i have the original Dandy had no brake on it. The new improved model 1895 had a full brake and same small gears. Through the years they changed the brake to two pieces and put the wide lip on the gears like the ones on the irragator model.

I have one with the big gears it's not an irragator model. Jimmie gave one to the Wind Power center it also had the big gears and small brake and isn't an irragator. I think they went to they bigger gears for all rather than having to make two castings. I also learned the frame, and gears are the same for am 8f ft and a 10ft. the one I have with the bigger gears is the same as my 8 ft except for the size of gears and it's a 10 ft.
