Ron I'm confused your 99 catalog says there stopping the cast clip and using the new style clip when my 97 catalog shows they were already using the new style clip. Part number 100.

Hi Ron, interesting video. I wish they would do nice galvanizing like that here now. The last stuff I sent out to get done they didn't even take the bundles apart and dipped the whole thing. They did a crappy job and also loose stuff every time.
Your Toronto wheel looks great, does it have the bent ends on the bands. Toronto had them, I don't know if the early Aermotor were like that.

No Peter, the wheels were the same as the 602s, 702s, and I believe they're the same today.

My intent on posting about the changing out of the cast clips by US Aermotor was that the CA Airmotor seems to have continued them for a lot longer?

My repro wheel doesnt have the bent ends. Heck, I couldnt even get reiveting on the cast clips. I like them as installers would have to get the wheels right with a clockwise overlap.

Those original Aermoter cast iron sail ties are made of malleable cast iron that gave them some flexibility. Does anyone know if their are any foundries around today that does malleable cast iron ?

Some of the Double Geard open Toronto literature that I have is from 1925 and it still lists the cast clips, so I would say that they made those clips into the 1920's. I also like the kink in the bands.

That bend on the end of the wheel bands is actually better than Aermoters it makes for a more perfect circle.
