I thought I was the only one that test a bearing by standing on and spinning on it. Maybe im not as strange as some people make me out to be! But I did find as I got older and fatter, I had to switch from a tutu to a three-three!

I have switched all my turn table bearings to tapered rollers. I pack then like you would a wheel bearing. One has been up 10 years and still turns free. Takes some machining but trouble free.

Any reason I shouldn’t press a 1/4 grease zerk into the grease hole on a Dempster 1155 turntable top? Seems odd that it isn’t threaded for one.

Thanks,
Michael

The reason is, because the grease won't get to the ball area. There is that nasty inner lip. Well, unless you lift the top. Later tops are drilled and threaded over the ball area with a 90 zerk.

sure. Take a bar up with you, and put it under the edge of the tt cap and gently lift it. Then you can spray heavy oil in it and get under that lip Thru the hole. The clamp under the stay should be loose enough to get a quarter inch or so lift.
