Sometimes you just have to ask the right person.

Burdick was 600 miles West, doubt he would have put them up. I also don't think he began until the 20's maybe. You mat be right about Texas being Dandy Country Windy. I have seen others around the state just not close to me.

"Burdick was 600 miles West, doubt he would have put them up. I also don't think he began until the 20's maybe."
Quite correct. Burdick didn't begin until the 20's.
Burdick was quite the photographer and T. Lindsay Baker published a book titled Blades in the Sky Windmilling through the eyes of B. H. "Tex" Burdick. The book is a collection of many of Burdick's photos, plus commentary about them, much being from Burdick himself.
Many of the photos are of C-27s that Burdick put up, but by no means all. Burdick would also do repair work on other make windmills, including wooden wheel windmills. One photo is of a 22 1/2 foot Standard, make by the Axtell company. Burdick remarked that the water it pumped had so much sulphur in it that it had to be aerated before the cattle would drink it. Other photos are of temporary camps where they were erecting a windmill, &c.
The book is readily available; see the Winmillers Gazette "Bookstore." Worth every penny.

On the Dandy subject some of the later models they also had a side vain like the challenge steel does anyone know what the side vain looks like or have one. I found a Dandy with a tailvane hinge that had just part of the side vain brace.Im guessing it might look like the one on their challenge steel model.

I have the book by Baker love it. I bought one from Baker when it first came out, he signed it. Was looking for it one day and couldn't find it. So I ordered me another one. Sometime stuff you think you lost shows up after you buy a new one. That hasn't happened with my book.
