Aermotor date stamp

I think I posted this on the old site, but here is a picture of a 602 that I have with end of shaft stamped. Not sure what it means. Should also mention this 602 has the "spring wire oiler".

Since they started the 602 in 1916, it's possible the date could be right. 6 of 1918 would work. I've seen some of those spring oilers. lol seems almost funny now after all these years, but was quite the invention back then. Remember, it was only in 1915 that Aermotor invented their self oiling mill (502 for only 1 year) so most ideas were new.

I have a spring wire oiler 602. I will have to look at the shaft for a date.

Yes, your assemble or build date July 1922. And IF ORIGINAL would have these characteristics:
Case with lipped mast bottom, side drain and no small gear pin access plugs
Hub without U bolts
Single stroke main gears
Flat strap pitman arms

In general, this is what I have seen:
There was more uniformity in the dating stamp once it was done on the hoop.

The single letter and number was a rebuilder but not any of the ones still operating.

Hoops were not stamped when the hoops were made but when motor was assembled. Bare hoops were likely replacement.
