power windmill

Generally speaking, this area is for general discussion about windmills, in most cases.

Looks to me like 29 chev. I have an extra axle and drums. They are worn out but you might be able to use if you shim them up. Maybe ill see you in the spring.

Joe the more I look at that the more I think that someone just took some F & W parts from maybe a 10 footer and built their own power mill with a chevy 1 ton axle that was on the farm. I can't see Flint and Walling using a chev axle for a power mill and selling it. Looks like there are pieces welded to it. I have no idea what an F & W power mill looks like but I'm sure they would have had there own castings no?

Thanks Mike,
Your picture looks like what I have.Would have to make a hub plate that would bolt to the drum
so that it would accept the wheel arms. I have seen a couple of Bell Morris vanes north west of
Calgary. This was maybe ten years ago and I was new to the windmill bug.
I do plan to visit you as soon as the snow melts. Need to pick up a pump and any spare dempster #14
parts you might have.

It's on a tapered shaft with a single keyway.and then one nut on the end of the axle holds it tight

Mike be sure to save the nut that holds the hub on the axle,For sure I will take it as what you show is pretty well bang on with mine. Did that shoe have asbestos brake lining?

No it is not.It needs a lot of work as some of the sections are bent out of round.I did not want to
do all the repair required until I am able to come up with the right hub and drum.
I plan to see Mike in the spring and pick up some parts he has for me.
I have two Flint and Walling hubs #1882 that measure 12 inches.I don`t know what size mill
they are from. The wheel spokes from the power mill don`t look like they will work on this hub
without some modification.
