This is how far I've come so far. Just finished lettering the vane. What satisfying work. Loosely assembled the tower in the holes this afternoon. Regulator parts all ready to go. I'm still missing parts for the vane arms and a couple of the oil cup covers. Does anyone have any of this stuff?

Just wondering as well any advice on squaring up and leveling the tower. I set it on blocks leveled the lower girts, all the tension rods are loosened off, still have to put on the tower cap and storm stay. There is likely a certain order to do things in...

Mike to square up the tower measure opposite corners till the two are the same.To level it run a plumb line from the center of the tower Cap to the bottom of the tower and adjust tower until centered of course after you have it in the holes.

Here is the other side of the vane repainted. Harry Cater was a long time mayor of the city of Brandon Manitoba and the owner of the Brandon pump works.

So I went back to the fellow I got the mill from just to see if there as any chance that he might have some of the vane hardware I'm missing. I showed him photos of the restoration so far he was impressed. Had no idea I was gonna do that kind of a job on it. Come with me he says. He takes me into the greenhouse and there, hanging from the ceiling is the entire wheel in almost perfect shape! His wife wanted it to hang plants from. I said I could build him a wheel, he agreed and we did a trade. I was going to attempt to build one. I'm so happy to have this. I can even see traces of the red scallops to repaint. Super stoked. This thing is going to be beautiful. I am still missing some of the vane hardware. If anyone can help me I would be very grateful. 306 540 4202 or email

I've also built a new platform which turned out really nice. Getting the metal around it tight was a bit of a challenge lots of clamps, straps and patience. Have also finished the pump, swivels, and the quick disconnect bracket thingy. For the main turntable bearing, since there was no bearing I just made thin disk of sheet copper which will be liberally greased on both sides.
