I missed out on a 10 foot Aermotor a couple weeks ago for $1,400. It was an hour away but was missing the vane and tail bone. It also looked to have a broken front hub, which made me hesitate. If they were $550 around here, I would have had one long ago.....maybe two! I hesitate to spend too much for yard art. This website is a tremendous help. I appreciate you all! I should have joined years ago.....

I'm sure there's someone on this forum close to you that can help you out with a better deal.

If you decide to pursue the Fairbury, I have the outer spider. Part Number HA 14. I had to take a wire brush to the thick paint to see the p/n, yet it is still barely legible.

Aermotor's are usually like John Deere stuff price wise, higher than other brands.

Dan, I agree. Those prices also seem high to me, but the area may have higher prices than other areas in the country. It is not a sin to own a Fairbury, but other makes are easier to get parts for, and maybe easier to work on. Around here, mills grow like weeds. The most I ever spent on one was 250, but I do not attend auctions either. Auctions always get way too much for windmills.

Any mill that is very inexpensive, is worth getting. Inexpensive is a relative term.

Wayne , do you remember a couple of years ago you told me to walk away from John Deere engines ! Well I didnt, and after cashing in my retirement , take a look .
And yes again , Windy is right .

You did a great job on the John Deere. You did a good thing, if nobody bought John Deere's and spent the money to fix them up the price wouldn't stay as high. So you are a hero for all the guy that has a John Deere for sale. Helping the Economy. Like the car, neat story.
