It is Dan, I’m tempted to erect the tower and then set the mill and just see. If it doesn’t clear I can pull the mill off and extend the tower a few inches. Sure would hate to do that though.

I think I'd try and hang the head so I could mount a couple of sections, them measure out from the mast pipe at the bottom of the blades. Remember it's when it turns across the corners of the tower when the blades are the closest.

Wayne, that is somewhat what I’ve done, except I don’t have it hanging. Just laying, but with one section on and rotating it by the neck pipe and measuring to center. Seems to be about 8.75

If I was back at my old place I could measure it on a standing tower with a WC on it. Lots of work to put it up and find out it's not good. Of course you know that.

Well well, well, I set the tower Tuesday and set the motor this morning and sure enough the tip of the sails hit the tower legs when it’s at a 45 degrees from square. Took the wheel off and will make the needed adjustments.
