It is hard to tell the number of bolt holes with certainty in the hubs, but it looks like one on the smaller hub and one on the larger hub.
The X has one hole in each hub, like that of the smaller versions. The J has two bolt holes in each and I don’t know much about a D other than what I’ve seen in a parts list, but the hub is different than the image of the windmill. Additional photos would certainly help, but I’m inclined to think it is 8’ or a 10’.

I have more pics! What must these people make of me skulking around their fence w my phone...
Upon revisiting I saw a faint 27 on the vane. Looks like 1 bolt hole to me? I couldn't see any numbers on the exposed parts.
Thanks everyone for your input!

I’m now leaning towards a Model E. It needs a storm stay, vane spring and chain.

I’ll try and qualify the model E presumption by comparing the large hub triangle cut outs to that of the 8 and 10 models and specifically to the model X. I have a complete model X and a partial J with hub. The cut outs are narrower on the one in the photos making me think 8’, plus the hub is one piece as seen on a 8’ and two piece on the X. The chain sheave shield is that of both the E and X. Thus the model E.

From what I can see setting in my chair I'd go along with 8 ft. The only thing I know for sure it's an old Monitor!

I put a note in the household mailbox, hoping they'll contact me and invite me over to look at it more closely...
They also have a Fairbury (the spcl i asked about in another thread) and a Dempster. And alot of other old farm stuff.
