Beautiful !
West of I-35 towards WindyBob's house there is lots of red dirt .
On the east side of I-35 the soil must be a darker color with all that iron rich soil ?

Paul

Is that the way inner and outer bands overlap on a Southern Cross? Interesting

Yes. You install every other section, then come back and fill in with the bands on top of the first 3 sections.

Paul,
Yes, that is what I saw. It would make assembly easier but do you get a wheel under tension like Aermotor? The few times I have hauled Dempsters long distance they have gone out of true and had had to retrue the wheel. They are easy tho as I just position a couple wood blocks on either side of where I need to stomp on the outer band with my foot.

Hi Ron. I've only put together a couple of Aermotor wheels, so don't have a good feel for what is normal. This wheel was 'easy' to put together, but did take a bit of coaxing. Everything firmed up nicely when performing the final tightening per the assembly instructions. It tracks as true as most Aermotors I've seen.

Thanks Steve! We're really enjoying watching her spin with the other mills.

Christmas lights will be going up on all of the towers this weekend.

PAul that is one impressive mill. I love that color, looks like Robin egg blue. Looks like that helmet could fit an Aermotor. Wow, what a job. I really like that.

Hi All

New to the forum just joined from across the big pond to the west

PaulV just a little information on your Southern Cross IZB it is out of the South African branch of Southern Cross the Australian version doesn’t have the brake on the hub they just rely on reefing out or the wind can be interesting up there in a stiff breeze if the pullout is not adjusted tight enough

Cheers Bluey
