Yes if going to run this mill and expose it to the weather your better off with zerks.

I know this thread is a few years old, but I’m pretty sure if soak your wood bearings in oil while under vacuum it will greatly increase your oil penetration. I’ve read that is how they get the oil in oilite bushings and the chemicals in treated poles.
Something that comes to mind is possibly for smaller pieces put them all in a mason jar of oil heated in water bath like your canning, put the lid on it and let it cool and let it sit a week or so. Might have to weigh them down not sure.
