I can't see any reason why a set of 602 gears would be that hard to find. Several folks here work with larger Aermotor mills.

Bob I'm guessing most 602s were replaced with 702s or 802s and scraped. You have to remember they are around 100 years old. You can buy new replacement parts but pay through the bun hole for them.I have a couple sources but even they are low on parts.

We don't have anything 10 ft around here . Al Thomerson, Ron Stauffer, and folks in Tx come to mind at the moment. When the fair is over next week I predict 602 gears will appear.

Okay, thanks Dan. I'll get ahold of him soon. I ordered a tail buffer, a vein spring hook and a vein spring online. The wheel spokes are built and the platform is mocked up. I ended up throwing some bolts in the wheel so I can get a better diameter measurement. Its exactly 10ft. I went with the cold galvanized on the stub tower, but that stuff isnt working on new steel. So I'll strip that off and go with a normal paint and primer.

Now it's time to start building the tail bone. Anyone have any measurements on one?

Looking good.

I have a B602 and separately a B702 tailbone I could measure. There are differences, but they are interchangeable.

A lot of the measurements will be in the photos, but I mainly photographed and measured the later B702 tailbone. Might take a few posts to get the photos all in.

B602 tailbone on bottom as it is flat bar and has the twist at the end. The B702 is part angle iron.

The b702 flat bar is 1/4” thick X 1.75” wide. The angle iron is 3/16” x 1.5”.

Few more to follow

Few more. If I missed a measurement, just ask.

If you’d prefer B602 tailbone measurements, I can do that later today or tomorrow as I have a family function to attend.
