Don't worry, the first test was done in the very safe location of my bathroom floor as I sat there and watched it emit a 3 foot flame for 5 minutes before settling down because I put too much kerosene in the starting wick... All subsequent tests were done outdoors. Despite it's appearance it works quite well!

And windy I'm sure you are right on welding cast. I'm probably just over thinking it because I only tried it once and it didn't work out, but I also wasn't aware welding cast was any different back then. But I guess I should have mentioned, while I do know how to stick weld, I currently only own a simple flux core wire feed. A new welder is on my Christmas list tho.. haha

Just started a Star 12 project. Pick it up in the hills of Perris CA. It was a journey to get there but well worth it for $500 bucks. Starting to put it back together now. Missing some sails but im excited to put it back together. Pretty much complete.

Usually there's a bolt hole in the center of the four ears to connect it to the tower. But yours look like it takes J bolts cause there's a notch on top and bottom of the ears on yours. Just my guess!!!

Or a U-bolt, just a guess too…assuming you have two holes per angle iron leg.

A lot of times, the spread of the tower legs are more than the measurement of the storm stay. Some Stovers use 4 or 6 inch bolts for the distance.

Flint and Walling used what they call a staple bolt. Basically it is a square U bolt.
