To help with clarification:
1899 was the first 3 leg tower but was not considered trussed tripod.
1905 catalog had the first 3 leg trussed tripod in it. It had button head and keyhole.
For some reason, the trussed tripod tower was not patented until 1908. Button head and keyhole was in the patent.
The EBTU (easy to build up) 3 & 4 leg towers were introduced in 1915. By the time this model came onboard, they were split rod. The transition was sometime between 1908 and 1915
