Im sure ive spent way more time on this than they ever did at the factory. The Dempster mill company would have been out of business! I pre drilled all the nail holes just thru the first part so the wood didn't split. I wanted to get the holes spaced and square to the sail. My first one i missed a couple times with the hammer denting the wood up some. So i made a little sheild/guide so that wouldnt happen. Ive left the nail heads out a little bit so I can take it apart again to paint. Ill use a pin punch to flush them up after painting. This is a patient mans game for sure. This is my first time doing this. Be interested in seeing what some of you have done..

After many many evenings i got all the sections done. So I couldnt wait to put it together to see how it looked and if it would all fit and pull out properly. Im impressed. I wandered around just looking at it for hours. It seems massive. Joe we maybe should trim 3/8 of an inch off of the trailing edge of the small spar. It fits but is tight. I cant wait till tomorrow after work so i can go look at it again. This took months to do. I still have to find an original tower to put it on. Joe, get ahold of me before you put your sections together i learned a few things.

Mike
That mill looks great. I love it when a mill comes together and it looks better that you thought it would.
Glad everything worked out for you.

Looks good Mike. I have put my Dempster project on hold. Waiting for the rest of my parts from Dan. Also it's been way too hot.

I am making a new jig sled that will do a better job of cutting the slots that are better centered then the ones I did for you and
mine . I am going to try it out on another Monitor L to replace the one I took to Saskatchewan which at this point in time is not up
and working . Big story behind that night mare.

When I put the nails in I place them across from each other near the bottom of the slot so there is less chance of wood splitting.
