Gravel Hill the shaft with the two gears are part of the mill the tappered gear meshed with the gear that spun the power shaft down to the foot gear. The other gear on the shaft meshed with the gear on the main shaft behind the hub that the wheel bolted too. I don't believe the other two gears were part of the mill head but belong together because the part numbers both end with the letter A. The hub should be around there somewhere I can't see them throwing that very important part out. It's possible it might be busted so also look for pieces too. Good luck finding them.

Like I said several times in the past, a pointed rod does good for probing the dirt at the base of the tower.

that book is another that T. Lindsay Baker wrote, possibly as a followup to the black book the "bible" so-to-speak.

The name is "North American Windmill Manufacturers' Trade Literature" and the cover is Hunter Green. It is a book that lists all known windmill literature, catalogs, flyers, papers, pictures, etc etc on all known windmills in America., and some even in Canada. descriptions, info and many other things to be learned, or reasearched and communicated to others in the book. You might try Amazon to start.

Hey no problem.. remember to read the entire intro. You need to learn how the book is formed, and what to expect from it.

Steve checked it out and it appears Lubbock museum doesn't have a monarch in there collection so no pictures of the wheel to go by.

Gravel Hill here's another thought. You said you haven't found the tailvane they might have used it to patch the grain bins. What about the tailbone? Is there anything around there that resembles a tailbone.The tailbone is what the tailvane bolts too.
