Jerry Barker came today and helped me put it up. Well, I drove the skytrak and he climbed the tower😁. He and everyone worked very hard 11.5 hours but it’s done.

Mark,

Good work! For future reference since it is hard to cover all topics when I gave you recommendations, to make life easier I would:

Assemble all heads bigger than 10’ on the ground. Hang an Aermotor motor by the top tail pin lug at 3’ off ground to install spokes and then lower to grade still suspended with a 2X block under the hub on a level area. The sections are easier to handle and cant tweak the spokes with their heavy weight. Once wheel is tightened, install tail and brake assembly. Raise the tail straight up and put that tail spring on while it is on the ground. Rachet strap the Z bar of the bone to the outer band and put several vise grips on the brake band/hub. Use a 2 line machine or a loader and a crane to pick the head straight up with tail fully open high enough to then hook on to the hoop to raise to have a fully balanced head to set. If you have a good steady crane operator, you can put the oil in when you have it upright on the ground.

Position your stinger lift so you have the jib as horizontal as possible, you will have more precise control.

The arm of the buffer goes on the other side of the bone.

You can have good control with just one tag line tied to outside of the hub center. Since the wind is always blowing, position the hoisting equipment appropriately with the tag line directing the mill in to the wind as if operating. Your drop line from the forks to the hoop is not higher than the wheel. If the wind suddenly changed directions, it would make life interesting...

I set even big mills as mill and tower together but that’s just my preference.

Ron
