I have two very old tailvanes that were stored in a barn in good condition but need cleaning.does anyone know what you use to clean the galvanize and logo without damaging them.

You might try spray on oven cleaner if it will get the baked on grit out of an oven and doesn't hurt the finish I'd thin it wouldn't take the galvanizing off nor the logo. I had a vane once that someone had painted. I used paint stripper and when I got the paint off the logo was still there. I was surprised.

Stiff brush and soap and water to start. More harsh measures gradually if needed. Mineral spirits, etc. Anything that is corrosive scares me.

I have used Simple Green and a brush with good results.
It probably won't remove the tough grime but it is a degreaser.
