I have a 702 mill I am setting up. I’ve cleaned the mast and need to know how many friction washers are used in the turntable base? It has one thin washer and 2 regular size washers.
Also, the nut on the end of shaft has one washer with it. It seems to be a standard washer. The parts diagram shows that washer to be “cupped”. Will standard washer work?
Lastly, the hub has a fill plug. What goes in there? Grease or oil?
Appreciate advice. Are there any special spacing required for the mast nut and shaft?

Sorry I got extra pics on post.
Re: Friction Washers for 702 mill
Bill , did you replace the tail pivot rod ?
it appears the lower tail vane bracket is severly worn as they ALL are after that many years spinning ?
Verticle 3/4 inch rod that holds the tail to the motor, has a nut that holds it in place.
Nothing . your question was what fluid goes in the hole in the hub .
That plug is for access to the oil scraper.

Bill, the plug in the hub, as Mike said, is just that....a plug.
As far as the spacer washers are concerned, it takes what it needs to let the mastpipe inside the case stick up above the casting maybe 1/4 inch at most. Then the umbrella washer and nut goes on. The umbrella washer slopes DOWN not up like a cup. The mast pipe nut should be snug, don't kill it with torque, if it snaps off, then you have a REAL job to look forward too. lol

I don't think it came from that tower there is a picture of. Right?

Bill , looking at close up of the photo of the case it also appears the upper case hole is badly worn . May want to address that while the motor is down and accessable.

In the picture of the mastpipe nut and washer, you can see an oil weep hole that appears to be plugged. this hole weeps oil to run down the mastpipe to lube the turntable. Sometimes these weep holes weep to much oil, and it runs all down the pump pole, then you are weeping also. lol You can plug it, or restrict it with a bit of grease.

What are your intentions for the mill? Pump? show? Do you have a plan to overhaul it? or not?

Nobody has said but isn't this a 602 not a 702?
Re: Friction Washers for 702 mill
Wayne, the hub looks to be a 602. However the innards appear to be either a very late 602, or a early 702.
The reason I say this, is because the crank gears appear to have the 702 style bearing. I believe the very late 602's had this setup. I'm sure I overhauled one years ago. By the time the 702 was introduced, the inside of the 602 was very much like it. However the mainshaft bearings were still poured in.
My opinion can always be updated, or overruled.
