I think they are and actually that one is in good condition.being your new the FW stands for Flint and Walling

It could be rusted up inside or busted up depending on how cold your winter gets

Might see if you can get ahold of the book "A Field Guide to American WIndmills" by T Lindsey Baker. If you are going to mess with mills, you won't regret it.

That is Flint and Walling's last mill out in 1937. probably ran up until the war. What your looking at is the only wheel (fan) designed and patented in an actual wind tunnel.

It was available in 5 , 7, 8 10, and 15 foot sizes.

I really hope the inside is not too bad. Those things are murder to work on if rusted solid.

Russell , If you want to learn about windmills drive the 96 miles to Ames and take a class !
Yes that's a long drive but well worth the effort. You can get years & years of knowledge in a short time in an amazing environment . There are several F & W motors , parts & lots of F & W parts, and an education on what to do with them.
Just in case it's not common knowledge WindyBob is amazing and willing to share his brain load of stuff and experience.
