Finished painting the sails this evening. I could just barely make out the old paint to make a template. A 16" 1940s metal port a wall made the circle. Just have to find or build the missing vane pieces and I'm away.

Mike - That looks really nice!! I may need a copy of your template ... I had no red left.

I looked around a bit over the weekend and it looks like my tailbone, rods & spring are all out in the snow. So, a couple more weeks yet.
Thanks,
Ed

Mister Ed. The template was easy. There were traces of the original paint left so I just measured the original. 2" each side, 4 3/8 in the middle. A piece of heavy card stock was used. I just looked around for a circle that hit the 3 points. In my case it was a old metal wheel disk, cut it out, clamped it on, traced it onto the blade with a pencil and brushed it on. It's not perfect but it's gonna be 25 feet in the air. Actually I spent way more time on it than the original guy did 100 yrs ago. I think we sometimes get a little carried away with our restorations.

LOL, thanks Mike ... exactly what I needed. I actually never noticed that they came up the side for the 2".

We lost a bunch of snow on Sat ... got 5 more inches on Sun/Mon morning, LOL. Supposed to be up in the high 30s low 40s on and off the next 10 days ... we should be losing enough snow so I cam measure parts for you.
Thanks,
Ed
