Hello, I just picked up an Aermotor A-702. I've seen mention of a date stamp somewhere but I can't find where it is. If anyone can tell me where to look I'd appreciate it. I was also wondering if there's any good place to see the different stencil designs on the tail over the years. Thanks in advance

Haven't taken a wire brush to it yet but the stamps I see look like maybe a "1", two dashes of some sort, an "H", and a "N". Not sure if any of this means anything

Tim , looks like a lot of that Arizona dust inside that motor .
The grove on the helmet bolt is interesting also .
It will be a good project to get you hooked on windmills . :)

Hard to get away from the dust here! I thought the groove was interesting too. This has definitely been a long time coming. It'll be fun to start working on it. The tower is pretty bent up so it'll take some doing to get that fixed up. I also need to replace most of the sails so I'll be keeping an eye out for replacements. I'd like to find old ones if possible.

I've seen grooves like that before. Loose helmet nut.

Pitman shaft does not appear to be too worn, as things look lined up across the shaft length.

Yeah the shaft doesn't look too worn. The bearings all need replacement as one would expect but for the most part things are in pretty good shape. I'm really anxious to start tearing into it but all my "need to do" projects keep getting in the way of my "want to do" ones.
