By the way waterPumper, by using the 4” schedule 40,,,you can put a well cap to hold the down hole pipe in place and it is also much easier to plumb than a barrel would be

Mark, this is my first experience with a windmill. You obviously know volumes more than me. I do not quite understand everything you are describing.
Any pictures you have of your setup would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Customers of ours have done the 55 gallon drum thing. Winter may cause issues, but draining the system works.
