I have a few questions about platforms for my "1/2 scale" windmill project. Given that a 2x6 is 5-1/2" wide, that puts the width about 16-1/2" which seems reasonable. The platform size is something that I would not want to scale down.

What is a comfortable elevation from the platform to the center of the wheel?

I was thinking of using 1-1/2" square tube x 11ga (~1/8"). It may be a bit expensive but it won't rot.

I’m not sure on that at all,,, but would suspect about 12” below the wheel radius. I can check a 27’ tower I have for an 8’ mill and let you know where is it in relation to the motor

Michael I think it would be a good idea to plant a nice crop of cotton at the base of the towers, but those stalls would be rough!!

I decided to build them as close to Aermotor original size as possible. Using 2X12’s for the large one and 5/4X6 for the oiler platform. Trying to keep it as close to authentic as I can.
