Platform size
Platform size
Does anyone have the platform size for a 33’ widespread tower with a 14’ mill? I have the old oiler platform that I can copy but not the lower platform. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. And no I’m not going to put a recliner up there.
Re: Platform size
I like a platform with room to set a bucket of tools on. My platforms usually are 3 2x6's wide on each side of the tower, with 1x6's across the back joining the 2x6s. I like to feel comfortable while I'm up there. There is noway I'd ever feel comfortable on an Aermotor platform, but that's just me.

Wayne, I understand. If I’m goi g to work on it anymore I was an 8’X8’ with a chain link fence around it. Ha!

I agree with you guys I'm scared to death of heights. Thank God I have a friend who isn't.
Re: Platform size
Dan, I have a metal building company and I used to walk along the eve of a 20’ tall building and never think a thing about it. Now I can’t hardly stand to be 20’ up in a man lift basket. Funny thing what age has done to me.

Ain’t that the truth!
Re: Platform size
You guys make me feel better that I'm not the odd ball out there, that likes extra wood under my feet when up on a tower. Wood and bolts are cheap.

Broken limbs aren’t!
Re: Platform size
In addition to disliking heights myself, a large/sturdy platform is my preference too, as is a safety harness followed by - don’t put anything below or around the wind tower base that you aren’t willing or wanting to land on. I have fallen once.
