I worked on the mill today. I had the main frame welded on the bottom where it was worn. I didn't get a pic before welding, but see pics for before and after dressing it with a flap disc.

The tailbone casting was also worn on the pivot holes. I used a die grinder with a carbide bit to dress the holes out. Then I used a flap disc to dress the top and bottom of each hole. See pics.

The third pic shows the tailbone casting on the main frame. It fit nice but not too tight. I don't think it was designed to be a tight fit.

Kenneth, whoever did that welding job did an excellent job. Mine is in very bad shape and I’m trying to find someone I can trust to do a good job with it. I DONT TRUST MYSELF to do it.

Thanks guys. Mark, my welder guy is an older gentleman that really knows his stuff. I have yet to have anything he welds come back insufficient. He has a good understanding about older mechanical things and how they worked. It's nice to have someone like that close by.

I know its been a while, but I have been busy with work. I was off today so I worked on the governor arms. They were wallowed out where the shaft goes through. They have a set screw that holds them on a piece of 3/4" square bar. So I cut a short piece of square bar and set them up back to back clamped to that square bar. I used the top end of the square bar to level it. It was cut square on my band saw. I then centered the spindle of the machine over the holes. And I started boring it out. Looks like 1.125" will do it. It uses .875" round shaft. I will then press in bronze bushings. See pics.

Kenneth, I don’t either. Lots of my pics end up 90* off. I’ve never figured out what I’m doing wrong

Work is looking great! I’ve stalled on mine, needing new gears.

go to your file where you store pictures, and see if you can get them to an edit section. Rotate them appropriately and you'll be good.

Windy, in my files, they are correct. Not sure why they turned 90 deg.
