Woodpeckers on metal towers

Generally speaking, this area is for general discussion about windmills, in most cases.

Woodpeckers on metal towers

Post by Windcatcher530 Dan »

For years every spring i would hear woodpeckers pecking my metal towers and thinking dummy there aren't no bugs in those metal towers.well come to find out it's there mating call.when i get up it's the first thing I hear reminds me of a black smith hammering on an anvil. Just thought I'd share that.

A few years ago the church across the street from the shop had a woodpecker that liked the steeple. It was made out of stainless steel or aluminum.
That was quite the sound to hear him start pounding on that steeple in the morning. It gave me a headache just listing to him.

I wake up every morning looking to learn one new fact. My day is made already, and it's early. We might go for two today.

Several years ago we had one that would peck on our metal chimney at daybreak. That echos down through a 2 story house. I mentioned it to a friend of ours that lived across town. He said he had the same problem.
