WD part

Have a part you can't identify? Did your parts get mixed up in the shop? Curious if that chunk of metal is a part you should keep? Not sure what kind of windmill or tower you have? Post photos of the mystery object here for the community to help identify.

WD part

Post by CTXmiller »

Saw this Baker WD (appears so) posted for sale online and while there are a lot of fan sections, the part circled in red, I’m curious about. I didn’t take these photos and I'm not interested in this mill, but just curious about the part circled. I posted all the photos, because we all like photos.

Don't know, it appears to be maybe a regulator or something. I don't recognize that as a part of the W series mills. However I did notice that it looks to be a pull-out mill. I understand you could order the regular pull-in mill as a pullout. That way it works like a Dempster or Aermotor mill. Very few exist, this is only the 2nd one I've seen.

A regulator would only work with a pull-out mill, correct?

Could that piece laying there that looks like a pipe be a mast pipe for another mill? I count 9 arms in the pile. Plus all those fan sections.

Wayne - I thought that too (i.e. to another mill) and separately a regulator, but I’m not certain. I looked up the supposed Baker regulator on windmill parts.com and compared and no match to those parts. Was more curious than anything. The ad said the tower came separate from the mill and the tower doesn’t look Baker so it likely is a combo of parts, with the majority being Baker.

Paul - someone smarter than me can answer that question.
