Post by JBarker »

I have read that there was over 700 different windmill manufacturers in the past. Is there an up to date list of all of them listed anywhere? Thanks

I am from Kansas, I think I had over 100 accounted for at one time in just my state so nation wide would be huge. You got to remember, most makers were small local outfits, they designed something, had some castings poured, if they sold out had another batch made and if not they moved on. Most there is no information on at all, maybe a listing in a trade journal but we have no idea what they made or how many. I am always shocked more mystery mills are not found but then many were in the wood era and WW2 got what ever was left of them.
