Pretty Cool! It is unique in that only the cap moves not the whole mill like the one at Lubbock.

Re: The Danish Windmill Project Restoration in Elk Horn, Iowa
There is an authentic Dutch windmill in a city called Holland, Mi. I believe its 250 years old and was the last windmill moved from the Netherlands in the early 60's. She is up and running, grinding various grains. They are pretty neat.
Beautiful area if any of you are ever around. Area is chock full of Dutch tulip gardens in the spring.

Wow! There is another way to move the cap. Like all windmill makers they all had a better idea. All through school as we I saw pictures of the Dutch windmills I never imagined they could move into the wind. I had always thought they were stationary.

I cannot take credit for the pic, its just the best one I could find.JBarker wrote: Tue Feb 19, 2019 12:10 pm Wow, great pic. I loved visiting Holland MI years ago. Pretty place.
I didn't mean to derail your thread, but thought this one fit here too.
Also, neat to note on the De Zwan windmill (my post above) there is a "ships wheel" type of mechanism to rotate the cap. You can see it in the pic (that is why I snagged a pic from the back side).

The Elk Horn Mill isn't to far from the trade fair. Just east of Omaha, north of Interstate 80.

Who would have thought we had one in Texas.
