Vintage Windmill and Wind Generator Forum

After reading the book by T. Baker "A Field Guide to American Windmills" I found it fascinating to learn that Texas had some small part in the history of windmilling and not just the northern/eastern states. So I have decided to post some that I have found for my fellow Texans to take pride in. Thomas Dewees from San Antonio, TX received this patent in 1879. I love history.

Interesting design and very early for a vertical axis windmill. I didn't see this guy listed in T. Lindsey's guide or mfg literature book unless Dewees had a different name for the company.

Mike you have to go to the book of windmill patents. If you don't have one as much as you like looking I'd recommend. You can order it from the Winniller's Gazette for $20.00.

His name is there in the back somewhere, that's how I knew to look him up. I was looking for manufacturers in Texas and I only saw 3 I think. Thanks Mike.
