Mark they were poured babbitt. That is a very nice find they're not that commen.

Okay thanks Dan, I understand now, like a 602 vs. a 702.
Thanks for the compliment on the find. Drove a long ways to get it but got it for a good price. It’s nice when you go a long way and then the treasure turns out to be more than expected.

Thanks Jerry, the oil reservoirs are pretty much rotted. Just hope I can get this thing back to “turning shape” so we can put it back up for a conversation piece.

Not only did other windmillers notice a rare piece like the oilers but they have the CAPS ! WOW
I have no doubt you can pour your own babbitt but it will up spinning in short order .

Thanks y’all. I found it on market place, didn’t really know what I was goi g to get. Just knew I was going! Got there and started taking it apart to load and haul it and knew it was something I had never seen before

That tailvane is in great condition being it's anywhere between 115 to 130 yrs old. Very nice!!!
