Flint & Walling identification

Post by 63markB »

Drove to Fredericksburg yesterday and picked up the F&W mill. Don’t know what model it is but will post pics and some descriptions. It has a single bull gear/pitman gear. Has a star on the vane. 8 foot. The outer wheel band does not go through the sails. It is behind the sails. Don’t know what else to say but hopi g someone can help me identify the model. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Dan, I will try to get some better pics tomorrow when it’s bright daylight and I get the tower out of the way. I hope I can rebuild it. Along with the other dozen I’ve drug up that needs rebuilding. 😂

The model 7 has replaceable babbitt bearings and the pitman is offset slightly and also has replaceable bearings.

More photos. Seems to be the general consensus that it’s a steel star. So, what does it have for bearings, bushings, etc? Or do the shafts just run in the cast iron? Also, some pics of the tower. Trying to identify it as well. Thanks for any input.
