1st day working on Aermotor B602
1st problem
how do you get the two big gears out of the housing ?
took the holder & bearing cap off .
The assmbly will lift up but gears wont get past case bottom ?
What am I doing wrong ?

You have to turn and unlock them and spread them to lift them out

Yes. a quarter turn on one or the other gears. If they don't work seperately oil them half to death. The oil needs to penetrate thru the middle of the gear shafts, or (tubes).

I read the dissembly procedure , walked out into the shop , lifted the big heavy gears slightly , rotated 1/4 turn , slipped sideways on the shaft ,
And both gear assmblies can out ! I wish I knew half , maybe a quarter of the "stuff" you guys know . Now I get to start cleaning , looking for oil passages .

Oil passages are hidden for the most part. There are 3 that are critical.

Mike take the oil swiper out pour some kerosene or other cleaner in the hole. Let it soak a bit then take a air nozzle with a rubber tip put it in the hole and blow back into the case. That's a start.

Oil collector not swiper.

Remember most of us when we started were dumber than rocks, and for some of us we haven't risen much above that level. We are swimming upstream as hard as we can to rise to the top.

I have graduated from rocks. I am now dumb as a fencepost.

I'm standing on the sidelines on this tangent .
