Raise Motor Head to Slip Washers On Turn Table

Post by JBarker »

This question was posted on Facebook Group Windmillers Group by James Kollmer....

"Does anyone have advice on how to raise motor head on a b702 so to slip in a couple of split washers underneath to give more clearance on the down stroke?"

I think Kenny Kemp had a great technique in solving this problem:
Reply from Kenny Kemp...."instead of lifting with the head (pump) rod I would cut a 1 1/4" steel pipe two inches long and put a groove down one side with a saw or grinder 1/2" wide. Unscrew the hold down nut, then place the pipe between the nut and the top of the pipe stem (mast pipe). Turn the fan until it picks the head up. Also the head is well balanced in the open position so that will be your easiest lift without having the weight of the tail (and offset fan) fighting you. Once lifted chain the fan to the tower and slide in the washers. Of course find a still day so you don't have to fight the wind."

Thoughts and opinions welcomed!
Thanks,
Jerry
