X-702 Pump Rod

Post by RPinAZ »

I'm going to fabricate a pump rod for my current project.
From what I gather:
1) The rod needs to fit into the yoke. The yoke bore measures at about .570, so a 1/2-inch rod ought to do it.
2) The swivel, must swivel, and should accommodate a 1-1/4 x 1-1/8 wooden pump rod.
3) The whole thing should be long enough that the swivel doesn't contact any structure on the upstroke.

My questions then are - is there anything else I should consider (other than just buying one - I could, but where's the fun in that). All of the above considered, about how long should the rod be, i.e. from the yoke to the swivel?

Thanks all

Consider putting a grease zerk on the swivel.

I don’t have any X-702s, otherwise I’d go measure a pump rod length.

I think I have one for a 602. I'll check, but I know someone else out does too.

I think most 602's have a threads on top. X mills are 1/2 inch NC threads. Usually a hole for a cotter pin also.
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number.

Mike, we've been getting a lot of rain this summer. I'm usually done mowing by mid-July.
