Hello from NW Iowa

Post by ShortTail »

My name is Don, I'm interested in learning about the windmills used in the late 1800s and early 1900s. I'm especially interested in the Dempster Vaneless windmills. I have the horse that was above our farm before I was born and would like to get it up on a tower again.

Hi Don,

Is your horse a long tailed or short tailed? If short tailed, with or without the Dempster name on the side? Also there were different sizes of long tailed horses depending on the size of mill but odds are it was a 10ft mill since they mainly used 10 ft mills (for wood wheels) in your area. I've spent some time in the area.
