Darrin, do you know how the small rod was fastened on the inside? Did it have some sort of cross pin that slid in the slots milled in the large shaft? If so, why was there multiple slots in the shaft when two would have done it? I can see the protrusion dogs slid inside the sliding casting to index them but why were all milled to the center? Thanks

Review of the patent drawings shows pins thru the small shaft to hold it to the slide collar. It talks about the ribs being on the main shaft to reduce friction between the main shaft and the slide collar. looking at the section view it looks almost like there are set screws holding the pins in place. Dont think the pins would have to be to big because there should not be a ton of strain on them.
